TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS NOTICE

Parents and guardians in the Lisbon Community School District have the right to learn about the following qualifications of their child's teacher/paraprofessional: state licensure requirements for the grade level and content areas taught, the current licensing status of the child's teacher, and baccalaureate/graduate certification/degree. The qualifications of an instructional paraprofessional who serves the student in a Title I program may also be requested.Parents and guardians may request this information from the Office of the Superintendent, 235 School St., Lisbon, Iowa 52253.The Lisbon Community School District ensures that parents will be notified in writing if their child has been assigned, or has been taught by a teacher for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not considered highly qualified.

Homeless Education

The Lisbon School District will comply with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act.  According to this act, a student may be defined as homeless if they live in any of the following situations:


             *   In a shelter, motel, vehicle, or campground 

             *   On the street
             *   In a abandoned building, trailer, or other inadequate 

                 accommodations
             *  Doubled up with friends or relatives because you cannot

                 find or afford housing
