Dress Codes
To protect the health and welfare
of the individual student, and to prevent disruption of the
educational process, it is obvious that some minimal guidelines
should be set. When dressing for school students should
keep in mind the need to respect themselves, those round them,
the school, and the community. Appropriate standards
include but are not limited to:
1. Students need to have
appropriate school attire including (but not limited to):
* covering of their
navels
* no spaghetti
straps are allowed
* no cleavage or
undergarments should be visible
2. Clothing should be neat,
clean and in good taste; Clothing or other apparel promoting
products which are illegal for use by minors such
as alcohol, tobacco, or drugs, or clothing
displaying obscene material, profanity, or
references to subversion are not appropriate.
Clothing displaying sexual innuendo is not
appropriate.
3. Personal cleanliness is
expected;
4. Students who dress to
attract attention will be sent home to change.
5. Hats, caps, bandannas,
or other head coverings are not to be worn in the building
during the
school day or early entry to the building.
PE Dress
It is highly recommended by the
Lisbon Board of Education that students wear a school P.E.
uniform or one that is similar (gym shorts, plain t-shirt,
socks, gym shoes)
* All policies listed are
located in the Lisbon School Handbook. Each student is
handed one at the beginning of the school year. Additional
copies are located at the Offices.
